![]() A School Business Partnership is a relationship that connects schools and businesses. The goal of a partnership is to directly and positively serve the youth of your community. Schools and businesses formalize their partnership by entering a partnership agreement. Such agreements provide pathways for collaboration between partners that continue from year to year. Successful partnerships grow with the partner’s awareness of other ways they are able to enhance the relationship. School Business Partnerships go well beyond School to Work, Junior Achievement, or other similar programs, by offering opportunities to students dependent on the partners’ needs and resources. Examples of partnerships include businesses interacting with students and school staff on a weekly basis, students going to work outside the classroom, community service projects, assistance with special programs, and schools/students giving back to the business. Partnerships can be developed with for profit businesses, non-profits, agencies, organizations, local, state or federal government. Why School Business Partnerships? Partnerships between businesses and schools are growing in numbers and importance, often determining the success of schools and the health of the community. Nationwide, there are an estimated 400,000 partnerships involving more than seven million volunteers in our nation’s elementary and secondary schools. The effort to establish high academic standards and work ready skills has been, and continues to be, a priority agenda item of the business and education community. Today’s education that results in student success, inside and outside of the classroom, does not occur by accident. It happens through planning by all stakeholders to develop shared visions and strategies to carry the collaboration forward. That is what School Business Partnerships does. By following my successful blueprint, a School Business Partnership program can be tailor made for your community. |
